Support Services at AMS
Resources to help meet our students' academic, emotional, social, and developmental needs.
CLC is our robust after-school program and it's open to all AMS students! From 2:10-2:45, CLC offers extra study hall time and/or homework help on team with team teachers. Students may either leave school at 2:45 or stay until 4:00. (buses are available at both departure times). CLC students staying until 4:00are provided with a snack from 2:45-3:00. and then may participate in either a second study hall or a teacher-led enrichment/recreation activity from 3:00-4:00. Students may sign up for activity sessions every 6-8 weeks. Past activities have included biking, swimming, fishing, origami, brain games & puzzles, comic book, art sampler, colorguard, and Student Council. We highly recommend that our students take advantage of everything CLC has to offer! Please contact Karen Millard at 333-6655 or [email protected] for more information.
Guidance |
Mrs. Molly Ellis is our 7th grade Guidance Counselor. She is available to support students, teachers, and parents through this middle school journey. Her goal is to help you navigate your middle school years smoothly and safely during a developmental period of many changes, physically, socially and emotionally. She may provide short term individual counseling as needed, small group, and classroom guidance. She may make referrals to our school-based social workers and to outside agencies if necessary. Mrs. Ellis is also our school's contact person for questions and program planning for students who have 504 plans. You may contact her by calling 333-6655 or by e-mail at [email protected].
School-Based Health Center
Our school based health center is operated by Community Clinical Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center and is staffed by a full-time School Nurse, part-time Nurse Practitioner, and an Administrative Clinical Secretary. Emergency first aid is available in the Health Center during school hours. A pass is needed to go to the nurse for all non-emergency reasons. A doctor's note or order form and parent/guardian permission are needed before a student may take any medication while in school. School-based social work services are also available at the Health Center.
Special Education
Each team at AMS has a special education teacher as part of the teaching team. Mrs. Adams is the special education teacher on our team, but rest assured that all Bradbury teachers work with all Bradbury students in different capacities. We recognize that students at this age can be very sensitive about seeming different from their peers. We also know that some students require specialized instruction, additional support, adjusted expectations, and/or smaller LA and Math classes. Special education services on Bradbury are weaved within the general flow of the team, and we try our best to blur the line between general education and special education in order to provide a more inclusive learning environment. Please contact Mrs. Adams with any questions or concerns about your child's IEP or educational programming on team.
Mrs. Macklin is the Special Education Team Leader at AMS. She works mainly behind the scenes coordinating services for students who have IEPs, consulting and supporting teachers around students' needs, problem-solving with students who are struggling behaviorally, and making sure students' educational needs are being met. If you have a child with special education needs, you will likely meet Mrs. Macklin along the way. You may contact Mrs. Macklin by calling 333-6655 or by e-mail at [email protected].
